
Yesterday, August 8, Harrah's Entertainment, Inc announced the re-opening of the Grand Casino Biloxi Hotel and Spa on August 17, 2006.
Anthony Sanfilippo, president of Harrah's Central Division said, "Grand Biloxi's opening marks the first phase of our exciting master plan on the Mississippi Gulf Coast."
"The Grand is back with the kind of high-quality casino entertainment experience our customers have come to expect. We look forward to contributing to the restoration of the Gulf Coast's tourism industry, and are excited to see our employees back to work."
The new land-base casinos will open to the public more than 800 slot machines and 28 table games, a 500-room hotel; a 300-seat Grand Buffet, an Asian Cafe, L.B.'s Steakhouse and Starbucks coffee shop. This is the result of a year-long renovation's worth.
1,500 employees were hired completely by Grand Biloxi to render service to their customers. Almost 95 percent of Grand Biloxi's old employees were re-hired as well as from Harrah's Entertainment and Gulfport.
With more than 2 years of experience in the gaming and hospitality industries, Karen Sock is now the senior vice president and general manager of Grand Biloxi, her former position is the assistant general manager of Grand Biloxi.
